Junior Boys BBall City Champs

The Junior Boys Basketball team finished off the season splendidly at the Division 2 HWIAC City Championships on Monday, February 22, 2016.

The team had a fantastic start to the game finishing the first quarter with an 18-2 lead. Knights defense worked hard and shut down a lot of potential opportunities by closing out on the shooter, blocking shots, and playing great “help” defense when someone got beat.

The play was pretty even with their opponents for the rest of the game and held on to win 42-25.  The defense was a highlight.  It is something that the Knights have really improved on throughout the whole season, and it is thanks to good positioning and a commitment to hard work.  The amount of growth the team showed from our first game to our last was outstanding.  By the end of the season, they were able to execute an effective offense and move the ball well.

“It is a fun group of guys, and they showed great sportsmanship, perseverance, and positivity.  Special thanks to George VanKampen who helped coach this year and to our outstanding managers and statisticians: Joseph Vanderwoerd, Justin Knevel, and Mike Bosma.  Thanks for your work guys!”
