Science Students work with Cabbage

Quick Experiment:

Grade 10 Science students at Hamilton District Christian High investigated pH values. Students discovered using something as familiar as red cabbage could show a beautiful range of colours.

The cabbage extract was easily obtained by boiling its leaves in distilled water, then cooled in test tubes.  The extract was then used to test the pH of approximately twenty common household chemicals and foods, including mouthwash, lens cleaner, ginger ale, Drano, rust remover, baking powder, and vinegar
