Welcome to Knights Athletics
At Hamilton District Christian High, it is our vision to participate in sport for God’s glory. Through athletics, we want to honor God and the people that we compete with by playing our best every time we enter into a competition. We desire to be leaders in the way that we treat the coaches, referees, fans and opponents in each match we play.
HDCH participates in the HWIAC, competes in Zone 1 of SOSSA, and is eligible for competition at OFSAA. As a part of OCSSAA, we are also able to compete with member Christian high schools from all over Ontario at a variety of annual tournaments held throughout the year.

Unless otherwise noted, HDCH teams participate in the HWIAC, competes in Zone 1 of SOSSA, and is eligible for competition at OFSAA. Girls Soccer

Description
Varsity Girls Soccer is a competitive team run from mid-February – the end of the school year. It is a busy & intense season playing usually 4x a week. The team plays in a competitive city league and also gets the chance to enter a few tournaments per year. Playing sports and being on a team is a highlight for many HDCH students!
When and Where
Practices are at HDCH, usually three times per week. (In the gym until it gets nice enough to go outdoors!) In addition to league play, this team participates in a few local tournaments. If they make it to OFSAA, this is a special road trip.
Boys Soccer
Open to Grades: 9 – 12

Season
Tryouts begin in February, the season goes into June.
When and Where
Practices are 3 – 4:30 pm some weekdays. They begin indoors at HDCH and move outdoors as weather allows. Games are in the Hamilton area, some tournaments are a short distance away. If the team makes it to OFSAA, that can involved travel.
Junior Boys Basketball
Open to Grades: 9 & 10

Description
A competitive team of 11 – 13 players who compete against schools in the HWDSB.
When and Where
Practices are after school at HDCH. We play games at home or at schools in the surrounding Hamilton area. We typically also play two to three tournaments on various weekends.
Girls Slo Pitch
Open to Grades: 9 – 12

Tryouts starting early May. A tournament is in late May at Turner Park.
Description
Girls from all grades and with some baseball skills and knowledge in baseball are welcome to play.
When and Where
Practices are on the HDCH ball diamond.
Ski & Snowboard Team
Open to Grades: 9-12
Racing Club
Season
November to March
Description
Although it is open to everyone, you have to be a confident skier/snowboarder. This is racing team.
When and Where
We do dryland training November to February in HDCH’s weight room, and a few on-hill training days during the winter where you practice racing through gates. (This may be at Mt St Louis, Blue Mountain, Beaver Valley Ski Club.) There is a race in February for SOSSA — and, if you qualify, OFSAA is in early March. SOSSA and OFSAA are trips, and there is a cost for each. The school subsidizes the cost, and students pay a portion.

We play in the public league in Hamilton and have a chance to qualify for regional championships and provincial championships. We also compete at a 2-day Christian High School tournament.

Practices are at HDCH. Games are at our school and local gyms in Hamilton. There are some out of town tournaments as well, such as the Christian High School Tournament in Toronto.

There are tryouts for this 4×4 co-ed Beach Volleyball. We play in two tournaments. (There isn’t regular league play at this time.)

Golf

Description
Competitive golf team. We have tryouts to make the team which can be made up of five girls and five guys. The entire team competes at cities and a couple of practice rounds. If they do well at Cities they advance.

Hockey Team–Girls; Boys

Description & League
This team participates in the Great Lakes Hockey League and co-hosts a Christian High Tournament in February.
When and Where
Practices are at local rinks (Chedoke, Spring Valley). Games are often at Canlan Oakville and Mohawk Quad. We do a bi-annual trip to play a tournament at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Badminton Team
Open to Grades: 9 – 12

Season
Try-outs for Varsity begin around March Break and the season runs until May.
Description
Our school has Novice, Junior, and Senior Badminton Teams.
When and Where
Practices are held after school in the HDCH gym. We host invitational tournaments and we compete outside of HDCH in Smithville, St. Catharines and in the Hamilton Wentworth Athletic Program. We have some day tournaments around the city and a Christian tournament at Brock University in the spring.

Description
It’s a chance to swing a racquet with other interested students and work on your badminton skills.
When and Where
Drop into the HDCH gym at 7:30 am most Wednesday mornings from September through March.
Cross Country
Open to All, Grades 9-12
Season
September – November
Description
Cross Country is an amazing sport that combines teamwork and peer support with individual goal setting. This is a team that spans all of the grades in high school, so long-lasting friendships are made on the team. Cross country running gives an opportunity for HD athletes to compete against public, Catholic, and Christian school runners while always working to beat your own personal best. It is also a great way to enjoy the outdoors!
When and Where
The group practices every Tuesday and Thursday after school at HD. Meets can be all over Ontario.
