April 9 @ 7:15 – Join us for a presentation of the award-winning film Screenagers.
HDCH invites you to join us for the film and for a post-film discussion with community members Hennie Schoon, Dawn Berkelaar, and Harry Blyleven (Tech Educator) along with HDCH students and staff.
This documentary by Dr. Delany Ruston has been screened for audiences across North America. According to the film website, the filmmaker “takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction.
Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.

Screenagers offers lots of resources for educators, students, and families on navigating tech and social media.
In addition to links and print resources, the filmmaker host Tech Talk Tuesdays, an interactive forum on navigating in the digital age. This week’s topic is Tech and Creativity. Dr. Ruston offers 16 tips for fostering on-line and off-line creativity.
