Striving to honour God and the gifts He has given us through our Music Program

Welcome to the Music Program at Hamilton District Christian High. Music students learn much more than how to play music and listen to music. They are continuously developing their sense of self, respect for self, and for the dignity and welfare of others, by being part of a performance group.

Music is a gift from God that has the power to transform and reshape the spirituality of the human soul. Music program students are provided the opportunity to experience and grow as a constantly forming Christian Learner. By experiencing the rich cultural heritage which is music education, the student becomes aware of the unique role that it plays in the Christian and secular world. No other medium has the power to transmit the ever dynamic Gospel messages in such an awe-inspiring manner.

For the brass, woodwind, and percussion players we provide classes from grades nine through twelve. A grade ten vocal class is offered for students with and without singing experience. Instrumentalists and vocalists can also become involved in some of our many extracurricular ensembles: Chamber Ensemble, Choir, Concert Band, and Praise Team. These ensembles provide students with opportunities to meet people and practice and develop skills best suited to their needs and interests.

Involvement in the community is important for Hamilton District Christian High
Classes and ensembles lead worship services at affiliated churches and perform at senior residences regularly. Each year, two major performances are the Christmas concert and Celebration of Learning. The choir also participates in the Ontario Christian High School Choral Festival. Every other year two major productions are the music tour and spring musical.
